Early 20th Century San Francisco Theater Scrapbook

Hardcover. Good. 12" x 9" scrapbook (marbled boards with leather corners, spine lacking) with programs from 152 performances and related ephemera affixed to both sides of 53 leaves, and an additional 30 programs laid in.  Dates range from 1907 to 1917.  The compiler was clearly only interested in the details of the performance and performers rather than the advertisements, so many pasted-in items are trimmed (to the content listing titles and cast) and not complete; all loose items are complete.  The vast majority of programs are for theatrical performances, but a few are for music or dance (including a complete program for a performance by Anna Pavolva at the Valencia Theatre). In addition to the programs, there are printed images and bios of various performers cut from publications, as well as a real photo postcard of Ruth St. Denis and a publicity photo of Julian Eltinge with stamped signature. Theaters most often represented include the Alcazar and New Alcazar, Cort, Columbia, and Orpheum.
