First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. 10" x 7", 743 pp, with frontis illustration of the old stone house, bound in original pebbled cloth. Small nick in spine cloth, one corner rubbed through, webbing just showing between front free endpaper and flyleaf, but hinge still sound, text clean. Previous owner's signature dated 1894 on flyleaf. Using one farm as a focal point, the text combines personal anecdotes, historical documents, and genealogy to provide a detailed look at the social, political, and daily life of the period.
