First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Four-volume set in original blue cloth with gilt lettering on spines, complete with all maps, plates, and facsimiles. Ex-library copies with discoloration from removal of labels on lower spines. Stamped on the title page of Volume I "Withdrawn by N.Y.G.&B. Society Library," and with their raised stamp on the same page, and a tipped in letter from the University of California Press transmitting the set the the library for review in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record. Bindings sound, text clean. The first English translation of Palou's Noticias de la Nueva California, which was the first general history of Alta California and its missions, written between 1767 and 1784. Due to size/weight, shipping cost will be more than standard for priority or international orders.
