Treadwell, An Alaskan Fulfillment
Softcover. Very good. Presumed first edition; no publication information given. Undated, but ca. 1909 based on internal evidence. 8" x 5.5", [26] pp, in original stapled wrappers, with illustrations from photographs, as well as cover art and decorative ornaments by Leeson - photographer and designer of the official emblem of the Alaska Pacific Yukon Exposition. Some light wear to edges of wraps, internals fine. An uncommon promotional booklet for the now-abandoned gold mining town of Treadwell, Alaska, located on Douglas Island across the channel from Juneau. Gold was discovered there in 1881, and the town was thriving at the time this work was written. The text includes considerable detail on the mining operations, as well as local businesses and institutions, social clubs, etc.
